For encouraging better cooperation as well as an exchange between the United States of America and HEIs across the Philippines. The Higher Education Commission has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Worldwide Community Colleges.
Prospero De Vera III, the Chairman of CHED, said in a statement that the Commission had been continuously pushing the idea of internationalization. Moreover, the collaboration between CGACC and CHED is exceptionally essential for building opportunities for faculty exchanges betwixt the community colleges in the US as well as the Philippine HEIs.
According to De Vera, the partnership will encourage adult education & for adopting unconventional practices in US’ community college for the colleges and state universities along with some of the local colleges and universities.
Zepur Solakian, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Executive Director OF CGACC, as well as De Vera, have signed the MoU at NAFSA’s sidelines conference was recently held in Washington DC.
De Vera said that they are going to push the collaboration for creating a platform where a similar interested institution will find spheres of the alliance. Moreover, De Vera also said that he should continue to increase the level of funds to enlist internationalization while assisting HEIs link with the universities present in the overseas.
According to De Vera, the MoU is going to put its focus to cooperate in spheres such as joint conferences, programs, and research activities of the community colleges. The cooperation is also going to focus on publications and exchange of academic materials, students, members of the faculty to carry out lectures and research. Furthermore, the collaboration will also enlist the development of the building programs concerning the designs of the programs and its governance.
The attendees of the event are some of the representatives from Canyons College, College of Northern Virginia as well as Pima College.
