In Florida, mainly Miami, Mari Corygedo, a bilingual teacher of elementary classes, have 26-year of experience along with a master's degree. She is extremely famous in the region due to her passion for helping the Spanish speaking pupils in learning English.

For her contribution to the elementary students, she receives $64,000 along with benefits annually. By the looks of it, this isn't popular in America's coastal city, where the median of house rent is up to $2,000 per month. On the other hand, the median mortgage is around $1,300 per month minus taxes and insurance.

Corugedo said that they spend between 30% and 40% of their total income on their mortgage. The 52-year-old elementary teacher said that she would have already moved out of Miami if her husband didn't earn to support the family.

On the other hand, the teachers who are just starting their career as teachers have quite a tough time to bear the living expenses in the region. Currently, Miami is a place where the rent is skyrocketing, and when combined with the low level of educator salaries. And the city makes Miami, the priciest city in the entire country for a career in the education sector.

For the first time, USA Today conducted the first of its kind analysis where it examined the housing costs along with the salaries of the teachers. The study suggests that the teachers are not able to afford minimum rent irrespective of the region across the US. And the report also indicates that the recent teacher strikes across the country are due to lower levels of income.

In spite of the demand for the high salaries, the teachers in the US in a few regions are having a hard time making ends meet. In some of the other areas across the US, the teachers say that they cannot afford to lead their lives in the salary without going through long distance coaching and hustling.
